PERFORMANCES WITH JOHN GARY

A great part of my growth came between 1978 and 1988 when I had the honor of traveling with the great entertainer, John Gary.  I played guitar and drums in his show, did stand-up comedy, sang, and had great fun playing 2nd banana to him.  We traveled America in major showrooms, concert venues, and long, long tours by bus or motor homes.  This experience allowed me to watch John and listen to his golden voice.  He became my friend and I learned something from him every night.

FAB COMPANY FIRST ALBUM

The FAB Company career was launched with the release of our first album in 1970.  The songs “Watermelon Is a King’s Delight” and “Chickasaw County Child” were spun off as a 45 rpm single.  Many radio stations around the country picked these songs up and gave them strong air play.  Our live performances followed up the air play and we were launched as one of Colorado’s most successful groups.

ON THE ROAD

Whenever one of us broke a guitar string, I had to tell a joke or two while we restrung.  This is me stressing out over the string or the joke, about 1978.

COMEDY &

CRUISE SHIP CAREER

There came a time in 1985 when I had done too much travel, too much struggle, and I left the entertainment business.  I became marketing director for a major shopping center in Southwest Denver, and later marketing director for an independent corporation.  During this time my friend, George McKelvey, opened a comedy club in Denver where I would perform once in a while to stay sharp for corporate shows that still came to me every month or so.  It was here, at George’s club, where my excitement was reborn and I created a full comedy headliner show.  Eventually this led to my 27 year career on cruise ships around the world.
